Principal's Message

Welcome to Longview Elementary School!

Greetings Longview Family!

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!

My name is Andrea Johnson, and it is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Longview Elementary School.  I moved to Hickory from Orlando, Florida in June and I could not be more excited to  lead the journey of continued excellence with this school.

My passion is to make sure that we are shaping the young people at Longview to have strong character and that we afford every single student the opportunity to demonstrate growth and success with academics. I want every student at Longview to develop an enthusiasm for learning and be able to become independent thinkers and problem solvers while having respect for themselves and others.

As we get ready to embark on a new school year after a challenging 18 months of school during a pandemic, we must remember all of the tough lessons we have learned along the way.  These lessons have made us stronger and have shaped us to be able to move forward together with a deeper understanding of the importance of relationships and education. This has been a difficult journey for everyone. Some parents became teachers in their homes while teachers on campus became experts of online classrooms and social distancing.  None of this was planned by any of us, but somehow, we have survived and grown in the process.

This year may not be the “normal” year we were all hoping for, but we are excited to be able to have all of the students come back into the building!  Our teachers have worked hard in preparation for this school year, and we promise to continue to provide engaging learning experiences for every student at Longview Elementary School.

My vision for this school year is, “Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future”.  There has been a great deal of success at Longview Elementary School. and my focus moving forward is to collaborate with staff and students to help elevate this school to higher levels of greatness!  There will be challenges along the way, however, I BELIEVE in the hard work of my staff and students and I know all things are possible.

I am truly excited for this school year and I am grateful to be able to lead the charge of excellence for the staff, students, and community at Longview Elementary!

With love and respect,

andrea johnson
