Meet Otie!
Longview second graders meet Otie, a therapy dog! Otie's owner, Gary Parrott, shared with students etiquette for greeting a new dog for the first time (always ask the owner first; begin by letting the dog sniff the back of your hand) and showed some of the tricks and commands Otie knows. Then students took turns reading to Otie from our new favorite book from the book fair, The Pigeon Needs a Bath by Mo Willems. Second graders are learning about courage and helping others in the classroom, and this was a wonderful opportunity to see how trained therapy dogs help people, too! Thank you Mr. Parrott and Otie!  READ MORE...
